Environmental - Preserving the natural environment through rubbish management and safety etiquette.
We are committed to disposing our garbage in an environmentally friendly manner. This is achieved by collecting garbage as we go on the tour, and encouraging our guests to do the same. Rivers in Nepal are getting polluted at an alarming rate. Due to lack of awareness, the rivers are being littered.
The majority of the population depends on rivers as the main source of water, whereas many rivers are also considered sacred. We have a multi-level approach towards helping preserve the Seti River as well as the regions covered during the trip. The first approach is to strictly avoid addition of any waste (soluble or insoluble) to the river. All the crew members including the tourists are given disposable bags to collect pieces of papers, plastic or other materials during their journey. They are also encouraged to limit the production of such wastes in the first place.
The second step is the collection of as much floating waste encountered along the way as possible. The rafters are advised to take necessary precautions while using the river. In some places, where people are often involved in unsafe fishing, they are encouraged to follow safe fishing practices. They are told about how pollution can affect living beings in the long run and how important it is to maintain the natural aesthetics of rivers or any other natural resources.

Meet Rajendra Prasad Sapkota and Outdoor Himalayan Treks, we are your local connection in Pokhara. Starting as a young porter, Rajendra has all the local knowledge that will make your trip to Pokhara life changing. With us, visitors experience remote villages, meet local people, and gain insight into our culture. We support local villages, and have even built a local orphanage to house and educate displaced, and often outcast, children. We hope to bring you a journey that will be enriching, but will also help those in need in Pokhara.
